So what to say about my sales in October. They wasn’t as good as my sales in September but I made more money INCREDIBLY – hurrah for the news about eBay scrapping fees for private sellers. So I mean – maybe I am on borrowed time before I am forced to upgrade to a Business account but still not a bad month really.
Although, perhaps it could have been better I went on holiday in September to Skiathos for 8 days and I still managed to make £200 more before fees. I didn’t jump on the Halloween bandwagon this year – maybe that will be a good idea next year. I am guessing this would have made the difference but anyway not sure exactly why sales were slightly down but it is not a problem for me really.
Maybe it was because of the car boots finishing and the terrible weather meaning less new listings? – I am not to bothered with it really as long as I am making enough to live comfortably. In a way I’m sometimes OK with less orders – more time to list and during the winter this is the perfect time really.
But anyway, I quite like sharing these posts so here goes. Here is…
What’s Sold October 2024 eBay Sales
Now, I shall begin with an item that only cost me £1.00 at the car boot. Lovely people with a little girl who was making all the prices up – was pretty funny and on the stall I spent about £30.00 on various items including plush, LOL dolls and this –
I can’t remember if I bought anything else here. Maybe should have as prices were pretty fair I thought but anyway about this first sale…
Sega Dreamcast Official Vibration Rumble Pack For Controller HKT-8600 Untested..
I think really I knew this would sell fast and it was an easy £12.00. This is the great thing about car boot sales for me. There is always bits to be found like this and I am quite happy with these margins spend £1 or £2 and make back £10.00.
Big sales are good too but getting a lot of small sales I think is the key to a successful business. Of course, making money matters but just the feeling of getting a sale can not be ignored as a motivation to keep going. So this is a good example of this for me of a good find and something to be on the lookout for. Now, let’s move on>>>
Parker Schrader Bellows M-43303-H Pneumatic Solenoid Push Button Valve Untested
This was another sale I was quite happy with. Mostly, because I spent £120 on this with lots of other similar bits and it kind of made me think this was a very good buy. Even though I have not broken even on this deal yet for me this was a good indicator that I will do this and over time I will make a decent amount of profit.
I’ve actually not even listed half (or more) of this equipment yet, but so far I’ve made about £110 back which is very close to the £120 I spent and basically all the rest I sell now will bring me into the profit. I also have more of these too – and of course, as one item has sold I’m sure more will follow.
It is a great thing when you can keep selling the same items on eBay as you know what works and this I think I have about 7 more of so that is very good to know. But moving on>>>
PHILIP TREACY London Black Hat Floral Pattern Inside Size L Lion Unicorn Badge
This was a bit of a gamble for me. I think I was kind of hesitant to pay £5 for this at the car boot sale but I think my logic was it was a good brand. Not like a big brand like Nike, or Armani for example but one of your typical London made designer items that doesn’t really get the counterfeits like more popular brands.
I still was not very confident about this pay when I got home but I decided to list for £25 with £3.39 shipping and this sold in about 1 week of listing it. Further proof that car boots are great. Now so the next sale – this was another from the car boot too.
Enslaved: Live Retaliation (DVD) Region 0 FREE 12 SONGS FROM 2003 DISC IS IN VGC
This I bought with several other DVDs with horrific names. All metal bands I’ve never heard of and I’m very sure would never want to listen to but as a reseller I will gladly pick up obscure niche products like this all day long. I paid £1 each on every DVD – I think I actually left some which I regretted doing but anyway this sold for £1.55 with free postage.
It’s about £8 profit back on the £1.00 I spent and the others will I’m sure sell for similar profits. I think this only actually sold after I lowered the price but I am fine with that. Sometimes things will sell for this initial price and by doing this I think I am still maximizing my profits so that is my logic. Now, next item>>>
1991 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Deluxe Dinosaur Dino Megazord MMPR Spares
This sale was a funny one because I found this dumped outside in a bag with loads of other power rangers stuff. It was a pretty grim task to clean it all but basically the bulk of it I sold for £100 and this I did list for more but I accepted an offer of £12 + £3.39 postage.
Basically just because I got this for free and it was just parts including some that were broken. I maybe could have still got £20 but I can’t complain for free I was quite happy to accept this offer. I know that one of these complete in good condition would be worth quite a bit more. Perhaps maybe this has helped somebody complete theirs for them to sell on for a lot more but anyway – on the topic of my favourite childhood TV characters here is another sale of something I got from Vinted.
Mattel – Masters of the Universe MotU Origins – 200X Skeletor – EU MOC From 2020
Not a great sale really. I probably would have liked to keep this but when you have as much stuff scattered about as I do I think you’ll be happy to sell whatever you can.
So this I got from Vinted for £5.00 I think it was. I suppose this would be about £7-8 with postage and Vinted’s seller fee. £12.00 + £2.94 postage was hardly worth it really but as I was saying in the beginning of this blog post I am just happy to get sales through sometimes it is all money and motivation to keep selling more.
Also, buying to resell from Vinted this is something you need to get used to. You have to experiment a bit I think and I guess this was probably just a bit of that.
Game of Thrones The Card Game Fantasy Flight Games 2nd Edition 2015 98% Complete
I got this for I think £3.00 at the charity shop. It sold fairly quickly if my memory serves me correct and it was a nice 5x flip selling for my full asking price of £14.85 plus £3.39 postage.
I tend to pick up a lot of GOT stuff and Lord of the Rings – I’ve never actually watched either but stuff like this always seems to sell for me so I’m definitely quite happy to pick up.
From the charity shops typically I do have to pay more – the profits are not always as good as say from the car boot or somewhere like Facebook Marketplace but really and truly just to keep the wheels in motion finding things like this at the charity shop is good business.
Now, back to a car boot find>>>
Vintage 1963 Original Mouse Trap Board Game – 1 Broken Piece, Damage To Box
This is an odd one really because I never actually sold the board game with this sale. The buyer contacted me to ask if he could buy the big ball on it’s own for basically the same price as I was selling the game for and he also paid to send Internationally to Canada.
I only paid I think it was £2 for this game at the car boot. I bought a few things of this seller. 2 comic books and a 1970s fuzzy felt set. Were all good profitable buys.
So, this just the ball I sold for £12.95 + £8.55 postage to Canada, and as he didn’t want the game I was left with this to sell too.
Pretty good find. Not a whole lot of money but like I said in this post I like to buy things for £1-2 to sell for around the £10 mark. Its good business and in this case I got to do this twice.
I always seem to do pretty good at the car boot and this next item was another great find.
The Amtrak Wars 6 Book Set with Dark Visions Illustrated Guide by Patrick Tilly
Actually, this was a bundle from 2 different purchases. The Illustrated guide I paid £1 for at the car boot. This alone I see was quite valuable £35-45 from sold comps but the books I see on Vinted for £10 and I suppose it wasn’t completely necessary getting them to help sell this but I like to do this –
if I can add extra items to my listings to improve my chances of selling something then I definitely will even if it eats into my profits. A bad habit really but I like to have bundles that are attractive.
The saying about dangling the carrot springs to mind. I like to add extras to my listings where possible and I think this actually works like a treat. So this sold for £38 after frees – I stupidly never added postage to the listing but £38 back off £11 is still good really.
Although, what I really like is when I make even better profits like…
Legend of the Seeker: The Complete First and Second Season (DVD, 2010) Region 4
So, I’m pretty sure I paid £2.00 for each season (£4.00) and I sold for £39.95 which means that I made 10x profit on this pick up. I got these from a charity shop in Norfolk whilst away visiting my mother.
In the shop I looked these up and I knew straight away they was a good flip. They are Region 0 so they’re Imports – never heard of the show but I think it is Australian. I think a lot of these foreign imports can do pretty well and if you never heard of the name this possibly means you could be on to a winner.
Nite Glo Yellow Fleeced 2in1 Dog Coat Size XL 60x84x56cm Labrador Boxer New
This was a bit of dud I think. I bought 4 of these for £20 from BNM as they was reduced. So OK off £5 on this item I’ve made £12 – the next one that sells will bring me into the profit and I will have 2 more to make potentially £24.00 profit but it has took me almost a year to sell only one and then I have 3 others left.
I suppose I shouldn’t moan really but with me its just storage. This is more of a seasonal item I think for the dark evenings in winter. I didn’t really buy this with this in mind but I suppose for someone who can spare the money and is happy to sit on a product till later in the year its a good investment but I really prefer to get things gone a lot sooner. Items like this next one are a good example.
Warhammer 40,000 – Codex Imperial Agents Hardback (2016) Games Workshop
I’ve lost count of how many of these Warhammer books I’ve sold. If you can find these Warhammer 40K books for cheap enough there is very good money to made but not only this, I find from my own experience that they usually also sell quite quickly.
I’ve got some that are still sitting around I will admit but just this one for example I sold for £16.95 + £2.69 postage (minus fees). I paid around £1.00 for this – maybe less because I got it in a big bundle with other books and magazines but by this logic that is 16x profit.
As a reseller this is gold dust – imagine spending £10 and making £160 that is incredible. Although, I think really many people know what these are and finding deals like this are not always very commonplace but 100% look out for Warhammer and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons because people pay crazy money for this stuff. The guys (and girls) who like this stuff are your typical software developers, IT Technicians etc. with very well paid jobs and stuff like this is what they spend their money on. So look out for it.
Batman & Robin Vol. 2: Batman vs. Robin Deluxe Edition Grant Morrisson Hardback
I paid £3.00 for this book at the car boot sale and I sold for £14.55 with £2.70 postage. A good sale on its own no doubt – and as I’ve said throughout this post I am very happy to pay £1.00 or £2.00 to make £10.00 back and this definitely fits this criteria.
I probably would have liked to pay a little bit less but I looked this up before buying and I know this would be a good pick up for £3.00 so I got it.
Although, the one thing I will say is the other Batman Graphic Novels I got from this same stall I should not have really paid the £3 each for.
I mean of course they were worth this but when you are buying to resell you aren’t looking to pay an items true value. You want there to be enough room to make some money by selling this for that price yourself. So this kind of of put a bit of a dampener on this deal for me. These other books they looked good but because I paid up for these there was other things at this car boot sale could have bought instead that would have made me more money. Now…
A Game of Thrones A Song of Ice and Fire Complete 7 Book Set George R R Martin
I have sold this book set about six-seven times now I think. It is a little hazy to be honest how many times I’ve had this set and sold it but these books I like to collect and get the full set of 7 together.
It is better actually if you can get other George R. R Martin books to go with this too because you can charge a bit more. I didn’t have any extras on this occasion but anyway.
So, I had 2 x of these lots and I sold both for £22.95 + £5.21 postage. I paid for one set £7 plus fees and postage on Vinted, and the other I think I got from charity shop for £5 for 5 books and I found the other 2 at my other charity shop and paid 3 for £1 with another book.
The profit is probably just over 2.5x with fees coming out if I pay £1.00 a book but I usually manage to sell this set quite quickly so they are good books to get. Even if you just find one at a time and keep aside till you find the others. Its similar with the Twilight books but the profits are a bit less with these I think.
But, onto something else.
Cavalry Household Museum London Souvenir Horse Rider Teddy Bear Plush Soft Toy
This sale I think is a good one to share. Another car boot find and this I think was something I just had a feeling about. I don’t think I looked it up but I still bought it.
In fact, I went back for it and I was pleasantly surprised because the stall holder said I could have this and 2 other items for just 50p. I actually can’t remember what the other 2 items were but this it turns out is from London in one of the gift shops near Buckingham Palace –
I don’t think these you still can buy but I did find some new for sale online. But, yes anyway less than 20p in to £10.00 – it is great when this happens and just goes to show that these items are 100% out there. I suppose its a shame there was only one but I am not complaining a few sales like this a day I am always happy to have.
YALE 5 LEVER MORTICE DEAD LOCK, 80mm 3″ MAXIMUM SECURITY BS 3261 Brass Finish
I knew what I was buying with this. I paid £2.00 at the car boot for a box of loose mortice locks with fittings.
Really I do feel like the bulk of this might just be junk I’m stuck with. Its mostly locks without keys so I’m not even sure what someone would do with this. Although, I have not listed the rest yet to see if anyone buys it. Which they very may do.
But this item, which was in with this lot I knew I would easily get £10 for and actually I did twice because for some reason this was relisted after I sold it and I sold it again – I had to cancel that order but this order here sold for £12.95 + £2.94 postage.
Barney Plush 1997 Rare Playskool 11 Inch In Great Condition
I thought this would be a great pick up for the £1.00-2.00 I paid for it. Barney The Dinosaur VHS I’ve done alright from before. I think Barney stuff is good for resell at the right price and actually I suppose I can’t complain because this does follow my model of making around £10 back off £1.00 or £2.00 but the one thing I guess is a complaint for me is this took me ages to sell.
I’m not in the storage business, I like to buy things that sell – the faster the better. Although, I do wonder maybe the listing would have benefited from better photos and I never put ‘Barney The Dinosaur’ in the listing just Barney so that was maybe a mistake.
3 x Richard Osman Thursday Murder Club Book Bundle 2-4 2,3,4 Hardback
So, these books I’ve seen about a lot of times and never picked them up. There are 4 different coloured ones Books 1-4. So I bought 3 of these books for £1.00 – I figured I would give them a go and even though I was missing book 1 I thought I could maybe get £10.00 back as they were Hardback in VGC.
I sold for £11.95 with £5.00 postage. Very happy with this and I thought I would not sell till I fund the other book but these sold. So I reckon I would buy these books again but not sure about the paperbacks – I don’t think they are as valuable.
2 PCS PROVOKE Blonde Rehab N0’1 Hair Perfector Bond Repair Treatment 150ml
Selling clearance Items for Retail Arbitrage I’ve definitely lost a lot of enthusiasm to do this. I can’t remember what I paid for each bottle of this – I think maybe it was £1.50 each so 6 bottles I paid £4.50 for. I made my money back but they were just sitting around for too long I thought. On this sale I made maybe about £10.00 on these but I also bought 4 boxes of CBD spray which I wasn’t allowed to list on eBay because I don’t have approval which I lost money (£12.00) on.
I mean I think that CBD on a side note helped me out on a few sluggish mornings but still this whole deal with the CBD was a mistake in terms of investment.
Thankfully I found a buyer to take all 6 bottles of the this Provoke – they seemed pretty happy to buy them but I will not be in so much of a rush to buy anymore cosmetics for resell I don’t think. I’ve got 4 boxes of women’s hair dye currently to try and shift but I think after that – I don’t know if I will be making this kind of buy in a hurry.
Leather Master LeatherCare 250i Kit Premier Care (New & Sealed) Cleaning Kit
This I think was a good pick up but I messed up by offering free postage. Maybe I should have checked before accepting the offer to sell this for £5.00 less.
So, this was a charity shop pick up and I paid £5.00 I think it was. This sold for £20.00 with free postage and I think this would have been £5.65 for Inpost Locker because it was over 2KG.
Profit-wise I doubled my money and I think I was glad to sell this when I did because I had it for a while and it was taking up quite a bit of space in my SKU box that this was in.
I was happy with the sale in general really because it just showed that items like this I can sell. I mean actually there was someone selling these at the car boot and I didn’t buy them and after selling this I was thinking about that and thought I should have got them.
100 x Vintage/Retro 35MM Projector Slides – 60’s-70’s – Random Picks Various
I bought a whole bag of these 35mm for about £10.00. There was weird Chinese tape cassette this guy had too and he threw that in free so basically I got this for £5.00 as this is what I sold the tape for.
So, anyway this was just 1 x lot of 100 Random slides I sold here. Altogether I made up 5 lots and now 2 have sold for £14.85 & £13.87 with postage. I have 3 lots left – basically another £40.00. Pretty good if you think about it 14x profit off £5.00 and if I can find more slides like these I already have an eBay listing ready to sell them.
2004 Luv Cubs Panda Bear Interactive Fur Real Hasbro
I paid I think £2.00 for this and it was while before I could actually test this. Unfortunately it didn’t fully work when I finally managed to get the batteries for it but actually because I needed batteries to test this I bought another Fur Real toy from Vinted.
This worked perfectly and was a quick easy double up on my investment but as well I finally got to test this Panda. I had to sell it spares and repairs on the end but I still sold it for £8.95 with postage which was good considering I got for £2.00.
Fur Real is a good brand to look for they are made by Tiger Electronics the same as Furby. Furby’s of course are great to resell but these Fur Real toys especially if you can find them working are great pick ups.
EMPTY BOX ONLY – Apple AirPods Max Space Grey + Inserts
This is something I got in a big bundle of items. I don’t think on it’s own this is something I would have bought to resell but still if you have empty boxes like this they do sell.
I accepted an offer on this for £16.95 + £2.94 postage ~ The reseller I bought this from was trying to sell this for more and I think probably I did let this go cheap but it was a chance to claw back a little bit of money from my deal I got this in so I accepted.
I also sold another empty box for a camera after this and another box but order was cancelled. Perhaps maybe people will be surprised but yes empty boxes sell just make sure you make this clear in listing.
Chums Wide Fit Mens UK 8 Walking Shoes Trainers, Easy Fasten Excellent Condition
I got these in a job lot from someone selling off the contents of their garage last year. These I had just sitting there for ages unlisted but after finally listing these they sold in only about a week.
For me, I think they wasn’t really worth much but £15.00 + £3.39 postage I got for these which was an OK sale I thought. I mean, It just goes to show. Somethings can be more valuable than you think they are. I’m sure I’ve got plenty more bits like this laying around too that I really should hurry up and get on eBay.
Vintage 2010 Gorillaz Stylo Band T-Shirt Tee Damon Albarn Noodles Size S Gildan
This was a great find at the charity shop. I was pretty shocked looking this up on Google. The results actually of other listings online were a lot higher than what I ended up selling this for. Still. £29.99 + £2.70 postage was a good sale seeing as I paid only £5.00 for this.
Although, I will say I’m definitely a bit less inclined to buy T-Shirts from the charity shop since I around this time because so many I’ve bought have had no interest at all really.
But I know Gorillaz merch like this is definitely good to look out for so here’s to hoping I find more.
Walt Disney’s Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket The Better Little Book 1940 Whitman
Interesting item. Nice sale I got this in a job lot from another reseller who was looking to clear some space. I think I paid £380 for this whole lot and I easily made my money from this. This book took a while to sell but this was £25.00 well into the profit at this point.
Perhaps this was something that is worth quite a bit more. I am constantly buying books and I know some can make a lot of money. Not all old books some more modern books can be big money sellers too. For Instance, if you ever find a Thomas the Tank Engine Collection with New Stories Book by Christopher Awdry I sold this recently for £200. I’ve sold books for over £100 before but this was the most recent one. I guess this wasn’t much to shout about but I thought I would add this in here.
Now, one last to share before I close this post up.
Job Lot 16 x Vintage Paperback Novels Bundle by Alexander Kent Richard Bolitho
This was a great find. At my local charity shop they do 3 books for £1.00 and there was 16 of these books here. So I paid £6.00 but I got 2 other books with this. So, I’ve never heard of this author or book series but typically if I see a decent amount of books by the same author I will buy as I know I can sell as a bundle.
I think by this logic the books have to be cheap enough. I often will pay £1 or £2 for a book but a lot of the time I think this can be too much but yes this was a nice find. Paid £5.00 basically and sold for £25.00 with local collection.
Nice way to end the month. I love finding lots of books like this. It doesn’t really happen enough I don’t think but yes will always pick up book bundles if there is enough by same author etc.
Now…
How Much Did I Make For October 2024?
In review, I thought October would be better than September as I didn’t have any time away. So, yes it was because I had more sales but actually I made more from total sales September. If it wasn’t for eBay scrapping fees I would have made less so very lucky here. Will be interesting to see how data compares next month. But I will say already that as I’m writing this it is December and I went away again in November.
So, pretty good I guess. Definitely comfortable with this amount of sales. They could be better as probably maybe 50% of my stock is unlisted. I actually said at the end of October I would try not to buy anything for November but I did lol – I couldn’t do it. Since January I’ve not had any alcohol and its funny because I think this has been very easy compared to giving up buying.
Final Word
So if you are reading this – this will be my 3rd What’s Sold blog on this website. It is December now so this is a bit late but yes so this is my format to summarize my sales at the end of every month.
YouTube is not really for me. I would rather use my time for other things I think but yes I think this will be what I’ll do every month – 1 what’s sold post just like this and 1 recent pick ups blog.
*Note: I haven’t done a recent pick ups blog for ages – I guess I will do one soon enough but anyway.
