Today was the Second From Last Car Boot October 2024. Where I live in Hertfordshire the car boot finishes next week. Whether this will be the last one actually I don’t really know but I picked up quite a lot so thought I’d share a blog post with a big list of all the bits I bought.

I think this is quite a haul so here we go. Here is my haul from the…

How It All Went Down
I will begin with yesterday. I finished my eBay orders (pretty much) about 3pm and I just got to the charity shops as they was about to close. I didn’t pick up much really – I got the 2 Xbox 360 Games. Devil May Cry HD Collection and Dark Void. The Devil May Cry game is a good one I’m pretty sure as it is the first 3 games on 1 disc with extras. I think I may be able to get £10 back for DMC but really I think I’d like to keep this.
My next 2 finds were the 3XL Disney Pick Your Poison T-Shirt and the Star Wars Grogu Plush. The T-Shirt I am estimating £20-25 on back from £5 and Grogu only £8 but my logic was the profit would pay for the T-Shirt.

What I Found At The Car Boot
I got up this morning at 7AM – the annoying this was that I plugged my phone in but I didn’t switch the power on so I had to wait to charge my phone. It was about quarter to 8 when I left and I got to the car boot probably about 8:30 AM. I didn’t actually check and I was worried that I’d left it too late but I bought loads.
In my last post I said about the man who always has loads of cool sci-fi bits for sale who always does me great deals. He was back there today and I spent just over half my £70 I brought with me on his stall.
Firstly, I spent £10 on a bundle of Douglas Adams Audio Books both on tape and CD. I should have 4 different lots here and he also threw in 2 x Tin Tin Tape sets. I already have this set but I can now Increase my quantity to 3 – I will buy most Tin Tin bits I see so glad I could get these.
After that there was loads more stuff I wanted. He had loads of DC Graphic Novels but he wanted £2 each so was a bit hesitant as I hadn’t looked round the car boot yet. I bought a few (5 including the Green lantern book) before I left but my 2nd buy was a bundle of Charlaine Harris and Abbi Glines Paperbacks, and 2 lots of Graphic Novels (Matt Merton Mysteries & Dangerous Games).
I wanted to buy more from him he still had more bundles of books I would have bought. I’d probably give him a lot more money as he had a lot of 2000AD comics too. In the end I did buy another 6 books (Bad Blood) for £2 just before I left to get in my taxi.
It was actually really a shame because I was going to buy a bundle of Robert Jordan Wheel of Time Hardbacks from another seller (just before) I was pretty happy when they said 50p each BUT as I started picking them up they were all wet so I had to leave them, and as I still had this money I spent it with my friend.
What Else I Found
There was a few other stalls I got books from – I got the Fantastic Adventures book & a Watchmen Graphic Novel for £2, then on another stall I got a Shakespeare Puffin Paperback (currently I am collecting) and I also got The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot as a paperback. Probably will read this before I put on eBay very Interesting (about the nature of reality) and the rest of the books I got were from another stall.
These are mostly all Enid Blyton books with dust wrappers from 1970s. I’ve done alright with these in the past so I pick these up fairly often If I see them. I think as long as price is right these are worth getting but it wasn’t just these. This stall had some young boy on it and I just kept buying more. The best find was a 1968 Batman (Adam West) Annual and an Indiana Jones book which should make me some good money.
The Private Magazines were another pretty amazing find. A pain in the neck all the space they are currently taken up – I was hesitant for this reason but I see a lot of these had sold on eBay for £130 so for £10 I felt like I absolutely had to buy these.
Then I got a WiFi Router for £1 (something else I usually look for). Plus, as well that I got pair of Reebok trainers for £4 (bit of a gamble). And I got 5 plush – not sure if any real big hitters but hopefully I can get £8-10 back off each of them. The Build a Bear Horse I can sell the football kit he is wearing and maybe he can go separate – this is a good thing to know BAB clothes can a lot of the time be worth more than the plush.
So just a few VHS apart from that, an AV cable for a Wii and oh yeah – another Bible for £1 that I’m hoping to sell for £15. I love selling bibles because so often they are cheap.
Other Pick Ups
After I got back from the Car Boot there was something I see advertised locally that I thought might be worth checking out. It was NOT lol

I think I thought this would be more like a sale but it was to help people – everything was free with the option to make a donation. There wasn’t really anything I wanted here and I really felt there was no reason for me to be there – I spotted a book shelf with some books I wouldn’t have minded checking out but I don’t know if they was actually for sale as they had a chair in front – I think maybe these are at other times or they are for people to borrow maybe.
So I was thinking about going home after this but I decided as I was only 10 minutes away from the town that I would take a walk down and check out the charity shops AGAIN (less than 24 hours later) and to my surprise on the way there I found another church holding a monthly thing ACTUALLY a SALE this time.
Although, It was pretty disappointing. Only one stall – however, its on once a month apparently same as the Community Church at St. Pauls. It was only books but I managed to find 3 to buy for £1. They had some key stage reading books too I was thinking about buying – I think maybe they could have been good for resale but I really was not feeling it so i did not even ask about them.
I may go next time to see if it’s a bit better but anyway – so I left there and in my 2nd Charity Shop I picked up a 1997 Travel monopoly set for £1.50. No brainer really but like all board games that are not sealed always a chance bits will be missing but it was a nice find – its all in there and I should get about £10-12 back from my initial £1.50 investment.
Then After That…
At the next charity shop I bought 3 books – 2 Philippa Gregory (to add to my bundle already for sale) and 1 Harry potter. I am kind of stock piling Harry Potter books at the moment. Not sure what I will do with them but wont be going on any bonfires lol – I see J.K Rowling’s Tweet recently about not caring if people burn her books as she still get’s paid for them lol – I think she is great.
But enough about that at the same charity shop MAYBE my best find of the day – I got not one but TWO Scrabble Deluxe Edition Brand Crossword SEALED for £10 a piece. Here are some recent sold’s on eBay.

I was tempted to see if there were anymore. It was just like I had hit the Jackpot lol I found one – I was going to buy it thinking it was pre owned then I realised it was new and then I found another. It actually give me butterflies in my stomach – that I’d actually got something proper decent – what a find.
And this was not everything I bought.
Other Charity Shop Bits and Vinted
I got 3 more bits after this – a Moomin Plush, Cruella De Vil Plush and a Stuart Little Plush. I also got 4 more books -3 Cassandra Clare (to go with a bundle I got) and 1 Terry Pratchett Discworld (building another bundle here to). I think I said YES out loud when I see it lol as its the first book and I got like the next 8 or something. Anyway…
The Moomin Plush was £1.50 that should get me over £10 hopefully, and same with the other two plush. I paid £5 for Cruella and Stuart Little – it is a bit expensive in this charity shop I usually give it a miss – I think maybe I was lucky because Stuart Little wasn’t priced so I offered to buy both him and Cruella for £5.
My Vinted Pick Ups
I’ve been pretty active on Vinted the past week. It’s a problem really I think. I’ve found some gems on here in the past and one I got was a Fur Real Dragon I paid £7 for. I got this because I also have a Fur Real Panda that has just been sitting round untested because I have no batteries (it takes 3 x C Batteries) It’s about £5-6 to buy new – so I needed to test the panda (it doesn’t work – talks but doesn’t move) so I bought this Dragon which works very well and I should get £20 plus for it.
With this I got a BNWT woman’s top – Ithis looked like another good flip so I thought OK yeah why not – so that was my thinking as I am trying to get into selling clothes more – it is money on the table I think so…
Then I paid £23 for a bundle of Build a Bear not picked up yet. I know the Grinch should make me a nice chunk of my money back with this – especially since Xmas is not long away. I also got the 3 monkeys from Raya and the Last Dragon (to help sell my other plush bundle) and a lot of 8 Brian Lumley Paperbacks (again I have others to go with).

*One other thing I got was a set of Deagostini Elvis DVDs I’ve done well with these in the past and I will always snap them up if I see them.
In Conclusion
Yep so some nice finds. I think maybe the Private Eye Magazine bundle and the Scrabble will hopefully be what makes me my money. I’ve not really listed anything yet apart from the Scrabble – this blog post is the calm before the storm lol I better get to it and if there is anything you would like to know about – leave me a comment below – I need to update my contact details on here STILL or Whatts App me is good +44 7719426276 – Please no spam.
